This notice explains what Canter Critic does with the personal information you give us through this website, why we hold it, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do with it.
This covers the Canter Critic website and the early-access list. Canter Critic itself is not available yet; how the app handles your riding video will be documented here before you can use it.
Who we are
Canter Critic is a product of Data Forage Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under number 12944938, with its registered office at 20a High Street, Glastonbury, England, BA6 9DU. Data Forage Limited is the data controller for the information described on this page. You can reach us at [email protected] about anything here, including a request to see or delete what we hold about you.
What we collect
What you enter in the early-access form: your email address and your first name, both of which are required, and your main riding discipline and country, which are optional. We also record whether you ticked the box consenting to emails, and which language version of the site you signed up on, so that what we send you matches it. Separately, when you submit the form we store a one-way hash of your IP address so the form cannot be flooded. It is made using a secret we hold, it cannot be turned back into your address, it is never used to identify you, and it is deleted within 24 hours. This website sets no analytics or advertising cookies and loads no third-party tracking scripts, so we do not build a picture of how you use the site.
Why we collect it, and on what basis
We use the details you enter to send you Canter Critic updates and to invite you to take part in testing, in the language you signed up in. Our lawful basis for that is your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form, and we keep a record of that tick so we can show it was given. You can withdraw consent whenever you like, and withdrawing it does not affect anything we sent before you did. The hashed IP address is a separate matter: we rely on our legitimate interest in stopping the form being abused, it is used for nothing else, and withdrawing consent to emails does not affect it.
How long we keep it
The details you enter: until you ask to be removed, or until two years after you join if Canter Critic has not launched by then. The hashed IP address: 24 hours. If you unsubscribe we keep your email address on a suppression list — we are required to honour your opt-out, and the only way to be sure we do not contact you again is to keep a record that you asked us not to.
Who else sees it
At the moment your details go into our own database and nowhere else. We have not yet connected an email provider, so no marketing emails are being sent to this list. Before the first one goes out we will name the provider on this page. We do not sell your details, and we do not pass them to anyone else for their own marketing.
Where it is held
Your details are held in our own database. If we later use a provider that would store or handle them outside the United Kingdom, we will say so on this page before that starts, and make sure the transfer is covered by a safeguard the law recognises.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to what we are doing with it. Email [email protected] and we will reply within one month. If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
